Science Supply List

For those of you who have had me before, you know I love to do interactive notebooks. Therefore, here are some supplies you will need to have in class with you daily.  I suggest getting a large pencil bag/box or even use a Ziplock bag to keep your supplies in.  Normally, I would have bins on the table with the supplies, but during this time we are not encouraging sharing of school supplies, so students will need their own.  Here are the supplies needed:

  • notebook
  • folder (folder should not be part of the notebook)
  • glue sticks (we go through a lot of these)
  • scissors
  • scotch tape
  • post it notes
  • colored pencils or crayons
  • ruler
  • highlighter
  • pencils
  • correcting pen

I also suggest students have a water bottle, as the water fountains will not be available. However, water bottle filling stations will be available.  Hydration is very important for concentration and overall well-being.

If your family needs assistance with school supplies, please contact the school office for information on getting the materials needed.

Google Classroom

Hello everyone and I hope all is well with each and everyone of you!  I want parents to know that you can have your child put your e-mail into their Google Classroom under invite guardian.  If your child can not add you, please email me at tpinar@eskymos.com with your e-mail address and child's name.  When guardians join Classroom, they receive regular, automatic email summaries for each of their students. Guardians choose the frequency of the emails—daily or weekly—and can unsubscribe at any time.

Guardian email summaries include:
  • Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
  • Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
  • Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers
Guardians can’t access Classroom or view our class stream.

Office Hours

For families wanting to discuss your child's participation and progress, you can email me at tpinar@eskymos.com and we can arrange a Google Meet video conference or a phone call anytime that works for you.

Office Hours for students, I am available anytime you need me.  Message me through Google Classroom or Gmail, and we can set up an individual Google Meet video conference, chat, or phone call.

I will also be meeting with students weekly via Google Meet to take any questions, discuss our topics, or just visit:). These hours will be posted in the students Google Classroom accounts.

My office hours are pretty much whenever I am needed.  I know this may be a difficult time for families having to homeschool their children, so I am here to help in any way I can.

Take care and please stay healthy!  Mrs. Pinar

Earth Day Virtual Field Trip

I have signed up my science classes for a virtual field trip with Discovery Education!  It is scheduled for April 15.  I have posted the information in your Google Classroom calendar.  It should be a fun way to see what scientist are doing around the world to make our human footprint smaller.

Since we can't take real field trips right now, this is a fabulous opportunity for students to get "away" virtually from the classroom:)

Planet Research Site

Here is a link to the NASA page that will help you in your research.  Once there, there will be an option at the top of the page labeled "Planets".  Click on that and you will see all the planets.  Click on the planet you are trying to find information on.  Remember, make your information interesting...something you may not have known before or information that you think your fellow peers will think is cool.  You need to have a minimum of 3 facts.
